About
Val Sharp
Val
Sharp is a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach and entrepreneur
who works with executives, entrepreneurs and professionals to
help them live a fulfilling business and personal life.
Ms.
Sharp left an extensive career in the corporate world to actively
pursue her lifelong interest in helping individuals live life
to the fullest. This passion for helping people to be all they
can be, combined with her corporate background and athletic
accomplishments, gives her a perspective as a coach that’s
unique. Val has been published in the Institute of Chartered
Accountants monthly magazine and. is currently a columnist for
PR Canada, an on-line newsletter sent to public relations professionals
across Canada. In addition to her coaching practice, she runs
an interior redesign business that provides an outlet for her
creativity.
Before
becoming an entrepreneur, Ms. Sharp was Director of Corporate
Communications for Intrawest, owner of Whistler/Blackcomb and
a wide variety of mountain resorts in North America and Europe,
where she directed all Public Relations and Investor Relations
activities. While there, she managed, wrote, and produced annual
and quarterly reports, corporate videos and websites, and presentations
for audiences across North America. Prior to that she managed
the Investor Relations activities for MacMillan Bloedel, a Fortune
500 company purchased by Weyerhaeuser, where she wrote and produced
innovative, award-winning annual reports and managed the production
of the company’s first environmental report.
Other
experience includes three years with a mid-sized oil and gas
company as Director of Financial Reporting and two years with
IBM as a Systems Engineering Representative. She articled as
a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte and Touche.

Ms.
Sharp received her accounting designation from the Institute
of Chartered Accountants in 1979 and holds a Bachelor of Commerce
degree from the University of Alberta. She also holds a certificate
in multimedia from the Vancouver Film School and received her
coaching certification from The Coaches Training Institute.
She is a member of Coachville, the Vancouver Island Professional
Coaches Association, and is an avid Toastmaster.
Her
athletic accomplishments include three marathons, several short-course
triathlons and completion of an Ironman Triathlon (2.5 mile
swim, 112 mile cycle and 26 mile run).
