Driving test confidence
Get your license with no stress
and no worries-5 ways to boost your confidence and pass your driving
test.
You've mastered the machine!
Or, just about.
ou're no Mario Andretti-not yet anyway.
But you've actually learned to steer
the car right where you want it to go.
You take turns rather smoothly, and
traffic doesn't really intimidate you very much anymore.
So, all in all, you're ready to go
for it-you're ready to take on the driving test!
Very few people actually look forward
to the driving test experience, so here are a few ways to boost
your confidence, take that test, and get your license to drive.
Know that practice makes perfect
Driving falls into one of those categories
where you can never over-prepare yourself.
Practice driving until you're really
comfortable behind the wheel and would feel confident going it alone.
Do a mock test
Have a friend or family member pretend
to be the test administrator.
Ask them to instruct you just as the
real test administrator would.
Ask others who have taken the test
recently about their experience and what they were asked to do.
Creating a similar experience before
the real thing will help you feel more comfortable-like you've done
this a million times before.
Prepare well
Get your rest the day before-no late
night parties on the eve of your test! Use a car with which you're
already familiar.
Having no surprises would really be
helpful-it probably wouldn't serve you very well if you weren't
quite sure how to shift the gears on an unfamiliar car.
Think positively!
Tell yourself "I will have my
license" and then really believe it!
See yourself with your license in
hand and know that "it will be."
Go for it!
Keep your speed, be comfortable, and
you will convey confidence.
Remember all in all the test only
lasts a couple minutes-it will be over in no time and you'll be
walking away a licensed driver!
If you do not pass, learn for next
time
Mr McPheat failed his driving test
3 times before he passed!
However each time he failed, he learned
the lessons where he had gone wrong and made sure that he didn't
make them again.
Sure, he didn't repeat the same mistake
twice - he just found other ways of failing the test!
There was a lesson to be learned about
life though.
I turned up for each test wiser and
more knowledgeable.
The fourth test resulted in the Test
Instructor stating that "It was the best piece of driving they
had seen in a long time".
In your quest for success, no matter
what it is, you will make mistakes along the way.
It will help you to overcome these
setbacks if you acknowledge from the outset that you will make mistakes
and it is all part of the learning experience.
It's an old cliché but a good
one:
"There
are many battles that are won or lost, but it is the side
that wins the War in the end that are the victors"
