What
is life coaching?
1. Life coaching works out where you want to go in
your life
2. As your life coach, I will work with you to find
a route to your destination
3. The aim of life coaching is to support you whilst
you get from where you are now to where you want to
be.
Is
it the same as counselling or advising?
Life coaching is not counselling or advising. A counsellor
or therapist helps to explore and analyse past and
present issues. A life coach moves you into the future,
and onto success. An advisor gives specific advice
about a specific area in which they have expertise.
A life coach works with you to achieve specific goals.
Can
life coaching help me?
Have you ever felt that ‘life should be better
than this’?
Do you have a burning ambition that you have never
got around to fulfilling?
Is there just one thing in your life which you need
to change in order to achieve success and happiness
– but you can’t manage it?
Are you running from task to task, but achieving nothing
concrete? Are you too busy to plan for success?
Do you long for more space?
Are you committed to achieving what you want from
life?
Then life coaching can help you to help yourself.
How
does life coaching work?
1. As your life coach, I will help you identify the
area of your life which you wish to work on as a priority.
2. As your life coach, I will work with you over a
three-month period. Within this time, you will work
to achieve the goals which are most important to you.
If you need and want to continue working with me on
your goals after your three-month commitment, then
you are welcome to carry on. I will not pressure you
to do so.
3. As your life coach, I am an independent third party.
I will not make judgments about what you tell me and
I will not give information about you to anyone else.
Who
are you?
Before starting my training as a life coach, I had
an exciting life and a successful and interesting
career in business and in adult education.
I
started life as a linguist…
I
graduated in Oriental Studies, having learned Arabic
and Classical Persian - I also studied Social Anthropology
as part of my degree. I look at life without preconceptions,
having had my own cultural assumptions challenged
at an early age. I was introduced to the arts, literatures
and material cultures of a variety of different countries
and I continue to enrich and deepen my knowledge and
understanding of world cultures and literature. I
have just successfully completed my MA in Literature
and I provide a coaching and tutoring service in languages
and literature to a mix of students, from beginners
in English and foreign languages to students working
on Shakespeare and Steinbeck! This is a rewarding
job in itself but it also adds an extra dimension
to my coaching and helps me to guide clients to see
their life issues with fresh vision.
I
have a successful career in EFL and business training
…
Because
I wanted to see more of the world, I completed a Trinity
College London Certificate and finally a Diploma in
TESOL. I have taught English, French and Business
Studies in the Middle East, Asia and Eastern Europe
as well as in the UK. I was promoted to Director of
Studies in a business/EFL school and also worked in
university administration. I keep up with developments
in EFL and EFL teacher training and I can offer practical
help and advice to university students and mid-life
career changers who are interested in entering the
EFL teaching profession.
I
am an experienced executive PA who moved into finance
and marketing …
I
complemented my degree and gift for languages with
a qualification for graduates in Business Studies.
This gave me good practical skills and developed financial
acumen. It opened the door to a very rewarding business
career which has included stints in insurance, banking
and accountancy. I succeeded in all three stages of
the Financial Planning Certificate whilst working
in an accountancy firm and I continue to act as marketing
and business development manager for a chartered accountant
who has a fascinating mix of established and new clients.
This experience gives me an insight into how business
works and how the world of careers and career development
is changing. There are lots of new and stimulating
opportunities which are growing every day.
I am a worthwhile coach …
I
hold a certificate in Life Coaching accredited by
NCFE (the national awarding body for further education),
and I am continuing my professional development with
the NCFE accredited Life Coaching Diploma run by Newcastle
College. I am a member of the International Association
of Coaches. My training and varied experience enriches
my life coaching and enables me to offer clients a
professional, eclectic and rewarding approach. My
mix of work enables me to network widely and I am
able to offer advice and referrals to other relevant
professionals as well as practical solutions to a
variety of client questions and challenges.
