PART 6 Building a full or part time business
This is when I can impart some of my knowledge and experience on what you should do to be a success as a Life Coach. Many people think that you can make heaps of money as a Life Coach – WRONG!!! Only the Life Coaches with the largest exposure are coining in the dollar. That means that you are entering into a marketplace where my experience tells me that around 10% of the coaches in the UK are making 90% of the revenue. That’s not to say that you can’t earn a good living out of life coaching, because you can. You can earn between £500 and £1500 per month with no trouble. But I am not going to tell you that making more than that is easy – I speak from personal experience here! I had no mentor helping me along the way when I set up my business, I just tried to do personal coaching and earn an income from it – WRONG again! So, in closing the curtains on this ecourse, here are my TOP TEN things that you should do if you want to become a successful Life Coach. These are from my own experience and are in order of importance! Don’t give up the day job until you can afford to do so! Start off part time and build up your business while you are still bringing in an income. Find a mentor coach and pay for them to help you. Either in training and mentoring in skills and know how or in how to build up a client base or both! Offer more than just “coaching”. This is very important. You need multiple revenue streams of income to pay the bills! Build a website – it is the most easy and accessible way to show your services and products. Be able to accept credit card payments. Remember 50% of my income is through credit card payments from clients! Learn how to sell and get clients. Learning how to coach is all well and good but what use is it if you can’t use your skills! Separate your business from your personal finances. Start a Limited company. If you do not feel passionate about coaching – do not do it. In the early days you will work very long hours Be innovative. Lead and produce new products and services. Have fun! If you do not enjoy what you do – forget it!
