Specific Experience of Coaching
Deborah launched her formal coaching career in 2000 after
serving informally as a personal and executive sounding board
for many years. Her coaching clients are primarily entrepreneurs,
intrapreneurs, and business owners addressing issues such
as succession planning, business development strategies, career
transition, and the blind spots that keep people from fully
realising their leadership potential. Deborah’s unique
style of no-nonsense coaching drives to the heart of tough
issues and helps individuals, teams and organisations identify
behaviours that support or detract from their effectiveness.
She challenges her clients to think outside the box in order
to stimulate greater personal, professional, and organisational
growth.
Qualifications
Deborah graduated, with Honors, from the University of Massachusetts
at Amherst and received her coaching certification from The
Coaches Training Institute. She has studied with The Institute
for Creativity and the University of Surrey in the UK, and
with Co-Active Space Leadership program, Arbinger Institute,
and the Bigger Game Company in the US. Deborah is a current
member of the International Coaches Federation (ICF).
My Approach to Coaching
“My
goal is to help corporate executives have a powerful, positive
impact in the world by finding their unique talent for leadership
within themselves. To do this, I have become known for asking
provocative questions that stimulate people to think 'outside
the box'. One of my key skills is an intuitive capacity for
listening deeply for underlying messages as a way to help
my clients identify and address issues that block their progress
towards their goals. I speak from personal experience of successes
and failures, wins and losses, as well as from the models
in which I have trained.
My clients typically want to increase their communication
skills, adaptability, and responsibility in situations of
challenge, transition, and change. In my experience, change
is a given in our lives; growth is an option. My commitment
is to assist my clients in achieving their goals for professional
(and personal) growth, by dealing cleanly with the changes
life throws their way.
"Also, having lived and worked abroad through the 1990’s,
I am keenly aware of experiential biases and cultural gaps
and am committed to helping my clients bridge them. Stay tuned
for new offerings in this area!"
